By downloading or using QR Code Scan Kit (“the App”) you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the App. Our privacy policy explains how data is handled.
Who can use it
You must be 13 or older (16 or older in the EU and UK). Under that age, only with a parent’s permission. If you’re under 18, a parent or guardian should make any purchase.
Store terms
If you got the App from the App Store, Apple’s standard EULA also applies. If it conflicts with these terms, Apple’s EULA wins. If you got the App from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply.
Your licence
We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the App on devices you own or control. Don’t copy, sell or redistribute the App, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows.
Free version and Scan Kit Pro
Scanning QR codes and barcodes is free. The free version has daily limits on some features, and Scan Kit Pro removes them and unlocks more. We may change which features are free or Pro over time; the current details are always shown in the App.
Scan Kit Pro subscription
- Plans: yearly at US$39.99 a year, with a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers, or weekly at US$6.99 a week, with no trial. Prices in other countries and currencies are shown in the App and on the store’s purchase screen. The price and trial shown there when you buy are the ones that apply.
- Payment: charged to your Apple Account or Google account when you confirm, or when the free trial ends.
- Free trial: one per person, as decided by Apple or Google. It turns into a paid yearly plan unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. The App can remind you before the trial ends if you allow notifications.
- Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically for the same length and price until you cancel. Your account is charged within 24 hours before the end of each period.
- Cancel: at least 24 hours before the current period ends. iPhone: Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. Android: Google Play › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
- Price changes: Apple or Google tell you in advance and, where required, ask you to agree.
- Refunds: handled by Apple or Google under their rules. See our refund policy. Nothing here limits refund or cancellation rights you have under the law where you live.
- Restore: use “Restore purchases” in Settings on a new device with the same Apple Account or Google account. Pro bought on iPhone doesn’t carry over to Android, or the other way round.
Ads and sponsored cards in the free version
The free version shows small cards for our own products, such as our wallpapers website, and may show cards for products from sponsors we choose. Sponsored cards are labelled. They come from no ad network, use no tracking, and Scan Kit Pro users don’t see them. Anything you buy from a sponsor or another shop is between you and them.
Fair use
Don’t use the App to make codes for scams, phishing, malware or illegal content, to pretend to be another person, business or payment request, or to use logos you have no right to use. Don’t overload the services the App connects to, for example with automated mass lookups. We may limit access for anyone who breaks these rules.
What you scan is your call
You decide what you scan and open. We are not responsible for the websites, payments, Wi-Fi networks or files behind a code. The link-safety warning runs on your phone and is a help, not a guarantee: no warning doesn’t mean something is safe.
Food information
Product data comes from Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts (© their contributors, ODbL). It may be wrong or missing. It is not medical, diet or allergy advice. Always check the package.
Your data
Your scans, history and codes are only on your phone. We don’t hold them, can’t see them and can’t recover them. We are not responsible for their loss, as far as the law allows.
Other services
The App connects to or opens services we don’t control, such as Apple, Google, RevenueCat, PostHog, Open Food Facts, websites you scan and other apps. Their own terms apply.
No promises
The App is provided “as is”. We don’t promise it will always work, read every code or show correct information. Our total liability is limited to what you paid for Scan Kit Pro in the last 12 months, or US$50 if more, as far as the law allows. This does not affect your rights as a consumer, or liability that can’t be limited by law.
Ownership
The App, its design and code, and the BUILDLANES and QR Code Scan Kit names belong to BUILDLANES. The codes you make are yours. Other brands shown in the App belong to their owners and don’t endorse us.
Apple App Store
If you got the App from the App Store: these terms are between you and BUILDLANES, not Apple. BUILDLANES, not Apple, is responsible for the App, its support and any claims about it (including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection, privacy and intellectual property claims). If the App fails a warranty that applies, you can tell Apple, and Apple may refund its price; Apple has no other warranty duty. You confirm you are not in a country under a US embargo or on a US list of restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them.
Changes
If we change these terms, we update this page and the date at the top. For important changes, we also tell you in the App.
Law
Indian law applies. Please email us first so we can try to solve any problem within 30 days. You keep any mandatory consumer protections of your own country, including the right to go to your local courts.
