Three column layouts

Simple: full name, first and last name, company, job title, phones (with their type), emails, address, website, birthday and notes. Best for reading or printing.

Google Contacts and Outlook use their own column names, so a file made with those layouts imports back into them cleanly. Empty columns are hidden in the preview but kept in the file.

Getting a .vcf from your phone

iPhone and iCloud: on icloud.com/contacts, select contacts (Cmd/Ctrl + A for all), then the share button › Export vCard. Android: Contacts › Settings › Export › .vcf. Google: contacts.google.com › Export › vCard. Outlook: open a contact › File › Save As › vCard.

The converter reads vCard 2.1, 3.0 and 4.0, folded long lines, quoted-printable text from old phones, and several files at once. Photos are left out.

How do I open a VCF file in Excel?

Excel can't open .vcf files properly. Convert it here to an Excel or CSV file, then open that. Each contact becomes a row.

How do I export iPhone contacts to Excel?

Export them as a vCard from icloud.com/contacts, then convert the .vcf here and download the Excel file.

Why do phone numbers lose the + or 0 in Excel?

Excel turns them into numbers when it opens a CSV. The Excel download stores every cell as text, so numbers stay exactly as they were.

Can it convert a VCF with many contacts?

Yes. One .vcf can hold thousands of contacts; they all become rows. You can also drop several files at once.

Is VCF the same as vCard?

Yes. VCF is the file extension, vCard is the name of the format.

Are my contacts uploaded?

No. The file is read inside your browser, and the spreadsheet is made there too.
