Join Wi-Fi from a QR code in one tap
Scan the Wi-Fi QR code on a café wall or a friend's fridge and tap Join network: QR Code Scan Kit reads the network name and password from the code and your iPhone joins, so you never type the password. You can also make a Wi-Fi code for your own guests.
- 01
Scan the Wi-Fi code
Point the camera at it, or pick a photo of it with Photos.
- 02
Check the network
The card shows the network name, the password and the security type (WPA, WEP or none).
- 03
Tap Join network
Your iPhone asks to join and connects. Copy password and Share are there too.
Make a guest code
In Create › Wi-Fi, type the network name and password and pick the security type. The app reads the code back to check it scans, then you can add a caption like "Scan for Wi-Fi" and print it.
Hidden networks
Codes for hidden networks work too; the network name comes from the code.
Saved for later
The scan goes into your history, so the password is still there next week.
- Some company networks (WPA Enterprise with a user name) can't be joined from a QR code; the card still shows the details.
- A code with a wrong password joins nothing; ask the owner for a new one.
How do I connect to Wi-Fi with a QR code?
Scan the code and tap Join network. The network name and password come from the code, so there's nothing to type.
Can I see the Wi-Fi password in the QR code?
Yes. The card shows the password in plain text with a copy button, which helps on a laptop or a TV that can't scan.
How do I share my Wi-Fi as a QR code?
Use Create › Wi-Fi in the app, or follow our guide on sharing Wi-Fi with a QR code, which also covers the iPhone's own sharing.
